Swedish Massage

Traditional Swedish massage is characterized by long, relaxing strokes known as effleurage, as well as kneading, or petrissage. Swedish massage is intended to induce relaxation and increased circulation as well as improve overall muscle tonicity. Pressure can be light, medium or deep depending on the individual's needs and neuromuscular response.

Couples Massage

Couples massage is simply two tables, two clients and two therapists in the same room. Any type of massage works well and same duration is preferred. This service is suitable for couples as well as friends or family members. We highly recommend a couples massage with a parent for minors. It can be a great way to ease anyone into the experience who might otherwise be apprehensive.

When booking online, please make sure that you book two separate appointments at the same time for each person in the couple and their preferred therapist.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massage is performed with warmed basalt lava stones. The added heat is very comforting and effective at stimulating blood flow to muscle tissue. The stones can be used for Swedish or Deep Tissue type massage. Many clients with chronic pain, such as fibromyalgia, find this type of massage very therapeutic.

Prenatal and Post Natal Massage

Massage Therapy performed during and after pregnancy can help to reduce anxiety or depression caused by hormonal changes, relieve muscle aches and joint pain and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. It's great for overall well being of the expectant and new mother as well as the expectant and new father!

Please note that for legal reasons, we do not offer massages during the first trimester.

Deep Tissue

This type of massage refers not only to deeper pressure but also to affecting the deeper layers of muscle. Depending on their skill set, therapists will integrate other types, or modalities, of body work like Passive Positional Release, Trigger Point Therapy or Muscle Energy Techniques to name a few. Deep Tissue does NOT need to be painful to be effective. In fact it is our general belief that traumatizing tissue in it's already diminished state is counter-intuitive. For this reason we recommend regular applications of moderate pressure over single applications of intense pressure.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by laying on hands and is based on the same idea as in acupuncture that life force energy, or chi, flows through the body and is what is at the cause of life. If one's chi energy is low, then sickness or stress are more likely to be felt. If it is high, the body is more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around the person, and the brain waves shift into theta and alpha waves which is where the most healing occurs in the body. Reiki treats the body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Reiki is wonderful for pain management and can also be just as effective with the hands above the body for those who desire a therapeutic session but prefer not to be touched.

Thai Yoga Massage

What is today called "Thai massage" or "Thai yoga massage" is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically. Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient remains clothed during a treatment and The recipient of the massage wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. Rather than rubbing muscles as is done in most massages, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked.
